Escola Básica Integrada de Eixo is located in the rural part of Aveiro, in the
                             small village of Eixo



4th May 2009            Escola Básica Integrada de Eixo | Projecto Comenius quot;On the Way to Cy.Ro.N.Med.quot;
     The school population comes from disadvantaged
       areas, with lack of economical, social and cultural
       resources;
      The school hosts a unit for pupils with special needs;
      The integration of pupils at risk of social exclusion is a
       main concern, responsible for the vocational courses
       that are taking place.

     Escola Básica Integrada de Eixo has about 450 students;
      It is an Elementary school, from the kindergarten to the 9th grade;
      Students’ ages are from 3 years old to 16 years old;
      EBI de Eixo is part of a group of schools, called Agrupamento de
       Escolas de Eixo;
      Agrupamento de Escolas de Eixo has 3 other primary schools and
       4 other kindergartens.

     At Escola Básica Integrada de Eixo there are
       currently 3 vocational courses:
          Hotel and Restaurant Services
          Computer Sciences
          Electricity

     To gain a global perspective of the world’s
       issues and problems;
      To develop a more tolerant, responsible and
       healthy way of life;
      To raise the awareness, at school and in the
       community, of the need to a sustainable
       development;
      To improve foreign language skills;
      To use the ICT in a more efficient way.

BICYCLE EXHIBITION (FEBRUARY 2008)

                                                      in our local newspaper.

BICYCLE TOUR (JUNE 2008)

      For na entire day, we visited the villages around the
       school, by bike.
      Everyone used the helmet!
      We distributed brochures, explaining why everyone
       should use the bicycle more often.
      It was a lot of fun: villagers came to the street and
       talked with us;
       Then, we had lunch in a beautiful park, by the river.

VISIT TO A MOBILITY SCHOOL (DECEMBER 2008)

      All the school classes
       visited the Escola
       Municipal de
       Educação Rodoviária.
      First, the instructor
       told us the main rules
       we should follow,
       when driving.
      Then, we practiced!

CHALLENGE “PEDALLING TO SCHOOL”

      Each time a student or teacher comes to school by bike,
       he or she wins points;
      Wearing a helmet gives extra points;
      By the end of the 3rd term, the 3 participants with more
       points win a bicycle, each!
