The 5 different cities of South America
1. Ushuaia, Argentina
Climate Zone:
Ushuaia has a subarctic oceanic climate, which is mainly cold with temperatures regulated by the
surrounding forests and the sea. The annual average temperature is 5.7 ºC (42 °F). Precipitations, either
rain or snow, are common throughout the year but not abundant. The annual relative humidity is 75%.
Strong winds from the west often impact the city, reducing the felt air temperature and changing the
weather conditions.
Trees in Ushuaia
The trees in Ushuaia grow like this because of the wind and the harsh weather conditions

southernmost city in the world and this picture was taken in January."
3. 2. Punta Arenas, Chile
Climate Zone:
Punta Arenas is in the rain shadow of the lower Andes, the city is one of the driest in Chile. Vegetation
cover around the city is scarce and the climate is semi-arid. Temperature variations over the course of
the year, like variations in wind speed and direction, are quite minor in Punta Arenas. The warmest
month is January, with average temperatures in the low 50s (10-12°C). The coldest month, July, hovers
around freezing (32°F or 0°C). Winters are long and summers are short.

5. 3. Huánuco, Peru
Climate Zone: Huánuco has a mild semi-arid climate. The temperatures are pleasant (with warm days
and cool nights) throughout the year due to its elevation (1913 mt. - 6275 feet).

4. Valencia, Venezuela
Climate Zone: Valencia, due to its latitude and closeness to the sea, has relatively warm temperatures.
The yearly average is 26 °C (23.3 °C in the shade, a maximum of 32.6 °C and minimum of 18.5 °C). The
city is located 479 meters over sea level. Winds reduce the temperature in the afternoon.

5. Teresina, Brazil
Climate Zone: Teresina has a tropical climate with two seasons with semi-humid characteristics: the
rainy season (which occurs in summer and autumn) and the dry season (which occurs in winter and
spring). From January to May, due to the rains, the weather is warm and wet (likely to occur when there
is fog in the morning), while from June to August the climate gets dry with relatively cool nights; in
September to December the weather becomes more hot and stuffy, and may begin to occur a few rain
showers from November.
