1. Who is Anar Mammadov?
Anar Mammadov is a successful businessman, charity organizer and golf enthusiast from
Azerbaijan. In the past decade alone, he has studied the business world closely, graduating
with several academic degrees across a number of subjects including Law, Business
Administration, and the Arts. Along the way he has become fluent in Azerbaijan, Russian, and
English, facilitating his successes on the international stage as a businessperson and promoter
of Azeri culture and history.
In 2005, Anar Mammadov founded ZQAN Holding which quickly went on to become one of
the most important companies in Azerbaijan, while promoting ethical business practices and
social responsibility ideals. In 2013, the company was re-branded as Garant Holding and as of
2014 has 18 subsidiaries across 29 brands in industries including publishing, fast food,
hospitality and transportation.
The Azerbaijan Golf Federation installed Anar Mammadov as its President in 2012. Under his
management a world class golf course has been built in Guba alongside a golf members club,
an academy, and a 5 star hotel complex. In 2014, the federation's dedicated work to promote
the game of golf in Azerbaijan culminated in the hosting of one of the world's most
prestigious golf tournaments: the European Tour. Perhaps Anar Mammadov's biggest
accomplishment has been overseeing the promotion of sporting initiatives to teach
schoolchildren about fitness, cooperation, self-discipline, and achieving their goals.
Aside from his impressive work with Garant Holding and the golf federation, Anar
Mammadov has also founded the Azerbaijan America Alliance which is a charity geared
towards increasing cooperation between the American and Azeri’s peoples. The organization
aims to promote a range of Azeri issues which continue to affect the people of Azerbaijan,
including the repeal of section 907 of the Freedom Act which prohibits the sending of aid to
Azerbaijan from America. Each year, the Alliance hosts a gala dinner which attracts policy
makers from around Washington, D.C. where humanitarian issues are discussed, as well as
initiatives to educate others in Azerbaijan's history and culture, while showcasing why
Azerbaijan is an important and potentially lucrative business opportunity for multinational
corporations. The Alliance does everything it can to better the lives of both the Azeri people,
and the Azeri diaspora.
