ACHIEVEMENTS STATEMENTS
Company Achievement
Zenoss Community Development and publication of HP-UX Monitor (SSH) ZenPack which is a
Python Extension for Zenoss Monitoring Software that monitor filesystems,
cpu, memory, swap and more of HP-UX 11.31 through SSH. This is a
complementary Zenpack caused for net-snmp monitoring deficiencies on HP-
UX 11.31 and offering an alternative way to monitor those systems.
http://wiki.zenoss.org/ZenPack:HP-UX_Monitor_%28SSH%29
Zenoss Community Development and publication of Kyocera Printer ZenPack which is a Python
Extension for Zenoss Monitoring Software that monitor the Toner and Cover
states of a printer as well as memory and Event alerts.
http://wiki.zenoss.org/ZenPack:Kyocera_Printer
SourceForge Community Development and publication of Ecommands. This Software brings
automation to Unix Linux Administration through specialized python
programs and ssh connections. Using this software will decrease significantly
the administration time in several servers. This software was a test
development over Django and Python for web projects and was published
under the following URL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ecommands/
Recently, I'm retaking this project and rewriting the code to Vaadin Java
Framework.
PDVSA – CRP Automation of maintenance processes and response times in Unix services
via scripts created in Python and Shell Script. This solution has brought
benefits for many repetitive tasks to maintain the server's operating system
stable and automanaged.
PDVSA – CRP Creation of the high availability VoIP service on Linux with Asterisk in
virtual environments. This service has replaced old telephony technologies
and also has brought better solutions and automated endpoint installations in
different areas of the industry.
On the other hand, this service has brought better realtime monitoring on
Help Centers, reports, video and telephony conferences, easy
troubleshooting and high availability of services.
PDVSA – CRP Installation and configuration of the monitoring network solution with Zenoss,
and integration with homemade scripts to execute actions in the presence
5. of events. This situation integrates some shell and python programs to the
monitoring system to trigger some actions in the presence of events, making
it more like an expert system and totally controlled by us.
PDVSA – CRP Disaster Recovery certification for metroclusters environments and High
Avalability Services. This certification was a join work with HP technical
team. One this metrocluster runs HP Virtual Machines that serves as hosts
for Critical databases and webservices.
This Metrocluster is one of the more important services in this company
serving to more than 4000 users and more than 500 applications.
PDVSA – CRP Technical leader for automation projects for the industry working together
with HP.
PDVSA – CRP Solutions implementation for automation in Free Software with good quality,
such like:
OCSInventory: bringing solutions for inventory automation and management
for computer's tenants. This is also used with cfengine to manage the
configuration and run programs and scripts to a massive computers.
High Availability Environments: Design and implementation for this
solutions, using heartbeat (CRM) or Serviceguard depending of the solution.
Load balancing clusters: with haproxy and LVS.
Webservices: with Apache, Tomcat and Passenger.
Databases installation and configuration: basically Mysql, Postgresql and
Oracle.
Monitoring tools: using Zenoss and Nagios.
Backup services: Installation, configuration and management of bacula as a
secondary backup software solution.
PDVSA – CRP Design, implementation and configuration for the High availability solution for
Virtual Machines using Ovirt (RedHat Enterprise Virtualization), making
300% better use of hardware and offering IaaS.
This solution has brought many benefits making this cluster one of the more
suitable solution for virtual machines and offering an alternative Free
Software and robust solution for VMWare VSphere.
PDVSA – CRP OpenStack cloud solution design, implementation and configuration for
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Storage as a Service (SaaS) used for
the next Linux Client solutions that we are implementing. OpenStack is a full
set for cloud computing and this is a project to redirect this company to a
level of the highest company in the world that use this technology too,
offering big benefits.
PDVSA – CRP Installation, configuration and management of Bacula solution for backup
and recovery software as an alternative and secondary way to recover critical
data in the industry.
This solution brings even a fastest way to backup and recover information
made in disks instead of tape drives.
PDVSA – CRP Windows / Unix interface program for critical control system services. This
basic script makes a bridge between one Windows Server and a Solaris
server to execute a Unix native programs and bring the results to Windows
using secure protocols.
This interface brought a solution for Honeywell's project in CRP to
automate this process.

RECENTS PROJECTS
End User Linux Client for PDVSA- CRP
State: In Progress
Description: It's a project where I built a Custom Linux Client based in Ubuntu minimal Operating System
totally automated and customized with programs made to secure and integrate it to an hybrid network
infrastructure with Windows Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and File share servers. This project intent to migrate
around 5000 clients from Windows to Linux platform. This Linux client in one of his kind because integrates
technologies like SAMBA, OCSinventory agents, Python's programs, dynamic NFS, windbind (automated with
likewise technology) and CFEngine for clients control and configuration.
We selected CFEngine in this case over chef or puppet because in our evaluation of alternatives we found in
CFEngine nice potencial, free GUI and also the same functionality than the others. We discovered that we
control almost anything with this software.
On the other hand, we had to built some additional servers in Linux to complete this task and to control our Linux
clients, like CFEngine Server management, OCSInventory server, NFS server for login scripts and hide
automated programs. On the other hand, we implemented some virtualization solutions for Windows software
that we consider not to run on Linux using an emulator or virtual machine. In this case, we used Ulteo as an
alternative to this Software as a Service solution.
Also it was implemented the boot security program in C language to protect the final operating system to be
cracked or violented the root password security using external tools or other files that can be changed in boot
time.
This project is in advanced state with good results.
9. Oracle8-9 Zenpack
State: Design
Description: This Zenpack for Zenoss community will bring an alternative monitoring tool for Oracle Databases
8 and 9 which for this moment it doesn't exist. This will combine Phyton programming and SQL queries to get
the values needed to fill the graphics and other information of schemes, memory used of the SGA and CPU,
sessions and more.

PHD API Communication Services
State: In Progress
Description: This is a project which has the goal to be a complement for platforms based in Honeywell's
Uniformance software. It will facilitate the software development for different programming languages. This
service is created in Visual C++ and his API in Java for multiplatform and portability. It will bring an innovative
solution for Uniformance Environments.
