 Andrés Aucatoma G.
 Is the study of being a teacher or the
process of teaching. The term generally
refers to strategies of instruction, or a
  style of instruction.
 Pedagogy is also occasionally referred
to as the correct use of instructive
  strategies (see instruccional theory).
 1. the function or work of a teacher; teaching.
 2. the art or science of teaching; education;
  instructional methods.
 teaching method: the principles and
  methods of instruction
 teaching: the profession of a teacher; "he
  prepared for teaching while still in college";
"pedagogy is recognized as an important
  profession"
 education: the activities of educating or
  instructing; activities that impart knowledge
  or skill; "he received no formal education";
  "our instruction was carefully programmed";
  "good classroom teaching is seldom
  rewarded“.
 Teachers are committed to students and their
    learning.
 Teachers know the subjects they teach and
    have the necessary pedagogical knowledge.
 Teachers are responsible for managing and
    monitoring student learning.
 Teachers think systematically about their
    practice and learn from experience.
 Teachers are members of learning
    communities.
 The National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards seeks to identify and
    recognize teachers who effectively
    enhance student learning and
    demonstrate the high level of
    knowledge, skills, abilities, and
    commitments reflected in the following
    five core propositions.
 Effective teachers are dedicated to
    making knowledge accessible to all
students based on their belief that all
students can learn. Thus, they treat their
    learners equitably by acknowledging
    individual differences among students.
 Accomplished teachers create, enrich, maintain,
and alter instructional settings, materials, and
strategies to capture and sustain the interest of their
students and to make the most effective use of time.
 Effective teachers are models of
    educated persons, exemplifying the
virtues they seek to inspire in students--
    curiosity, tolerance, honesty, fairness,
respect for diversity, and appreciation of
    cultural differences.
 Exemplary teachers contribute to the
effectiveness of the school by working
    collaboratively with other professionals
    on instructional policy, curriculum
    development, and staff development.
 There are many types of pedagogy, or
styles of teaching using varied strategies.
The style of teaching a teacher chooses
will have many factors depending on
what kind of class is being taught the
age of the students, and the size of the
class. Lecturing is one style of teaching
in which the teacher handles all the
    instruction.
 is a philosophy of education described
by Henry Giroux as an "educational
    movement, guided by passion and
    principle, to help students develop
    consciousness of freedom, recognize
    authoritarian tendencies, and connect
knowledge to power and the ability to
    take constructive action."
 Critical pedagogy includes relationships
    between teaching and learning. This
proponents claim that it is a continuous
process of what they call "unlearning,"
    "learning" and "relearning," "reflection,"
"evaluation," and the impact that these
actions have on the students, in
    particular students whom they believe
have been historically and continue to
be disenfranchised by what they call
    "traditional school."
 Children learn more rapidly than adults,
though they are also very ignorant. In a
way, they are idiot savants, good at one
kind of thinking (acquisition), poor at
  another (facts, judgment).
 A friend of mine had a foreign exchange
student from Germany last year, I think she
was a junior (ie, about 17).
 The girl thought of it as a sexual vacation
and remarked to the shocked mom that
the African American boys were much
better in bed than the white boys.
THANK YOU
