1. EVALUATION AS - MEDIA STUDIES COURSEWORK George Myers – 12PP
2. In what ways does my media product use forms and conventions of real media products? We have used eerie music/sound effects as well as using some great visual effects to give our film the scary atmosphere it deserved. The use of technical camera shots and angles are also implemented in our piece of film, which is something you’d expect to see in a film at the cinema.
3. How does my media product represent particular social groups? The young generation – The characters portrayed in our film are young teenagers carrying guns. But, this diverges from the common view of youth crime, however, because they respect the weapons and don’t go waving them around aimlessly in public. Instead, they were used as a last resort, and a means of self defence.
4. What kind of media institution might distribute my media product and why? Film companies/industries that are renowned for their horror film releases.
5. Who would be the audience for my media product? Teenagers, young adults etc. Anyone with an interest in horror films. Those looking for a zombie film with, guns, blood and laughs.
6. How did I attract/address our audience? We used blood, guns and general violence; something our audience would be relatively attracted to. Used a similarly aged cast to our target audience – Making it easier for our audience to relate to our film.
7. What have I learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? I have learnt that there is more to the camera than just pointing it at something and filming. I have learnt that the shot type, angel and movement all need to be considered and tended to in order to make good piece of film.
8. Looking back at my preliminary task, what do I feel I have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? I have learnt that different camera shots and angles are crucial in creating affect in a piece of film. Planning is crucial, you can’t just go out and film on the spot, preparation is KEY.
