2. Golden Syrup
• You could add Golden Syrup to Scones and it was used
in Baking as a sweetener. It is still used in Baking today.
• It was spread on Bread, almost like honey.
• Golden Syrup tasted quite nice, especially in Porridge
4. Milk
• We drink Milk today to keep us Healthy. It contains
much of the Nutrients we need. Milk was given free in
Schools to children to help them to grow.
• In the 1960s, Milk was widely used in Baking
(Custard/Rice Pudding/Bread and Butter Pudding)
• Milk was also used for Butter and Cheese Production.
• It was given to children when they were ill.
• Milk is still very important today.
6. OXO Cubes
• Stock Cubes are used to add flavour to Stews and Soups.
• They were used as a Drink, and Bread was dipped in this.
This could serve as a Snack after School or as Supper
