SCOT stands for Self-directed Courses with Online TeacherThis presentation will discuss an innovative project, which, unlike the Virtual School model, is a cooperative effort of the 12 francophone school boards in Ontario.This project, an initiative of the 12 FLSB and managed by the CFORP is subsidized by the Ministry of Education. Each board supplies one subject specialist teacher, and students from all boards may take courses from any of these teachers in an online environment.Students also have the benefit of a support teacher in their local school.This model is exportable/replicable in other jurisdictions.<number>

The e-learning strategy supports many of Ontario's other learning initiatives and priorities, including the following:Student Success Strategy : This $1.3 billion strategy aims to increase the graduation rates in Ontario high schools to 85% by 2010–11 through various means, including high-quality online learning.Learning to 18: This initiative provides more flexibility for students to complete their studies and will increase the number of students who graduate from secondary school. Politique d’Aménagement linguistique: A policy for Ontario's French-language schools and francophone community supported by AEO. French-language education in Ontario is much more than 'the curriculum in French'. The province's francophone community looks to its schools to protect, transmit, and enhance French language and culture.<number>
