88. 1712 and 1741--enslaved Africans waged major organized uprisings in New York city--were well organized. Twenty percent of New York’s residents were enslaved Africans. The white people called them “conspiracies” meaning they were well organized.
89. 1521 Aztecs resist Cortes and Spanish invasion. Bernal Diaz and Cortes--found Tenochtitlan (at the site of today’s Mexico City) to be the most splendid and beautiful site they had ever seen. Markets, cleanliness, birds and flowers, artists, poets, street theater, prosperity. Then slaughtered the people and destroyed the city within a few years.
