http://archivesinternational.auctioneersvault.com/catalog/ArchivesXXVI/XXVI.html#V/zOn behalf of the entire Archives International Auctions team, I would like to personally welcome you to our twenty-sixth exciting auction we have held over the last eight years.
We are privileged to offer the Family Archives of Rudolph P. Laubenheimer, Master Engraver, Die Sinker and Medailleur in more than 470 lots of historic medals, medal and token production material, works on paper, advertising ephemera and production artwork that have been closely held by the family for over 100 years. This year, 2015, marks the 110th anniversary of Rudolph’s death in 1905. It is appropriate that we celebrate this anniversary by acknowledging this amazing man as well as learning from him. After months of working on this project and very closely with the family, I would call Rudolph a Renaissance man as well as an inspiration to anyone in a creative field as is shown with his incredible range of talent, from engraving, to sculpting, to drawing and painting, graphic design, music and composition, shall I continue? On top of this, he had tremendous tragedy occur early in his life, out of 5 children, losing 3 boys in infancy and one at the age of 12 as well as his wife, Henrietta, who he adored at a young age in the late 1870’s. His remaining son, Ernst, who was devoted to his father, followed in his footsteps and continued in the field as a talented and successful lithographer for American Bank Note Company for many years. Through all of this, Rudolph persevered and never let these personal tragedies stop him from accomplishing an amazing amount of exceptional work over a 50 year+ time period. This sale includes production items relating to his work with medals, tokens, jewelry and artistic objects; Coin and stamp production proofs and essays; Works on paper including original artwork and sketches, some relating to medal and jewelry designs, others to strictly artistic esthetic pursuits; Commercial graphic artwork for advertising; engravings and vignettes, as well as engraving and Die Sinking seals, plus additional source material for his work. The sale concludes with about 70 lots of commercial artwork and production material created by Ernst over a 40 year+ time period. We are also offering a large selection of U.S. & Worldwide Banknotes, Coins, Medals, Scripophily, a substantial find of Early Security Printing Ephemera, mainly related to Continental Bank Note Company that has come from the engravers family ca. 1860-70’s, and hundreds of rare and exciting items that rarely come up for auction. We are looking forward to another exciting auction and hope you enjoy our current offerings. We are in the planning stages of our next Scripophily, Coin & Banknote auction scheduled for Mid-October 2015 at the Wall Street Coin, Currency, Scripophily & Collectibles Show and preparing for our sixth

The following 35 lots of Cameo and related business cards are one of the most significant
offerings of this type of rare collectible to be placed on the market in the last 20 years or more.
The one thing that allows this collection to stand out is that it is the work of one man, Rudolph P.
Laubenheimer and has never been offered to the collecting public previously. Almost all are on
coated stock and would have been used either as a calling card, or just as easily the design could
have been used for envelope advertising corner cards.
