cow consumes
- how much beef
you consume
The process of
how beef gets to
our plates
Why is it
important to keep
the beef
production
sustainable?
3.
4. one cow consumes roughly 13-31
kilograms of grass per day.
That means in a year, the cow would
consume 4, 745 kilograms of grass.
That means that in an average lifespan of
a cow (15 years) they eat a whopping
71,175kg of grass in their life. Where as,
most cows don’t live past the age of 7.
5.
6. Roughly, 2.3 kilograms of
beef is consumed by a
person every month.
Which means, in a total
year, the average person
has consumed 27.27
kilograms of beef.
On the average, the
human lifespan (77 years)
consumes around 2,099
kilograms of beef in their
life.
7.
8. 1. Each fully grown cow
needs 5 acres of land
2. Making sure cows are
healthy and sustaining
their daily diet.
3. The cows are
transferred to a
slaughterhouse where
they get slaughtered
and packaged and
ready for the beef
markets.
9. There’s 29
million cattle in
Australia. 9
million of this 29
million cattle are
slaughtered per
year for the
human
consumption.
Beef takes up
40% of
Australia’s
market.

11. We need land and if we don’t have land,
we don’t have have farmers. And if we
don’t have farmers, we cant produce
cows. And if we cant produce cows, there
wont be a sustainable future.
This is the reason why we need enough
land to sustain the amount of cattle that
gets produced.
