1. Arash was born in Iran and moved away to Sweden by the age of 10, he is a singer and producer who has become one of the biggest pop music sensations that originated from Sweden. He has platinum selling albums and is the only singer in the Persian heritage whose success has translated into the Western and European music industry. He has collaborated with many famous artists such as Janet Jackson, “Shaggy” and American singer and song writer Lumidee, he has also had duets with Swedish singer Rebecca Zadig and DJ Aligator (also originated from Iran). Arash’s music cannot be categorised and be put in genres because of his diversity and the different types of music he creates each time, however it is known that his music is more upbeat, reggaeton, dancehall etc.
The video I’m reviewing is for one of Arash’s songs called quot;
Dasa Balaquot;
Feat Timbuktu, Aylar and Yag. Arash has said that the reason he chooses to sing in his native language is because of his quot;
deep attachment to Iran and Persian culture therefore this song is in Farsi. This music video doesn’t have a set story to it as it’s about dancing, more of a club music. I like this music video because it’s very colourful and the editing is very creative.
At the start of the video the camera is at long shot and a figure is standing surrounded by greenish/blue smoke which draws you in to watch the rest of the music video. Then it zooms into a medium shot and a splash of colour surrounded around his figure, which emphasises the singer. The colours are beautifully blended in together to create a Smokey powdery effect.

Then each character is revealed in different ways but all connecting with each other and all having the one editing technique in common.

Another editing technique that was used was the dissapearing effect, the singers in the video would dissapear into the smoke of colour, which was a way to cut from scene to scene. Through out the music video the singers throw each other objects as if they are all together where as they are in different scenes that creates continuety and also the objects they throw away like their jacket is then turned into the smokey colourful powder thats everywhere which again creates continuety and clourfull editing.
Every scene is carefully planned so that its continuety isnt broken and also each scene is connected to each other with the smoke and the colours and the differnet things that link each scene together which is very intertaining for the audience and attraacts them to watch the video over and over again.

Here the back of the shirt gets zoomed in and becomes the next scene.

Here the sun glasses on the t-shirt gets zoomed in and placed on his face and then zoomed out to which its the next scene.
The lyrics also matches the images behind the singers, for example Yag is singing about the streets and to put your hands up and those are the background images eitied behind him with the same technique throughout the video.

Another technique they have used is to take a film with in a film which is quite fun, especialy here because its edited to create cool effects.

There is nothing much happening in the video but the use editing and the scenes connecting together and the continuity creates a great music video. Everything in the video is not real and is created by computer and editing, everything except the singers.
As the beat of the song gets higher and louder the colours of the scenes change instead of pure white with splash of colours it turns into dark and black with bright neon colours, like in clubs.

Finally the video finishes with the main singers togther and the camera rotating around them with the colour powders splashing away from them.

This music video is something people go back to watch again because its very interesting and never gets boring becuase of the use of colour and fun subjecst.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggbZJcv-WGE
