2. About HMT
Established in 1953.
HMT Machine Tools Ltd was formed as a wholly owned
subsidiary of HMT Limited in August 1999.
Over the years diversified into Watches, Tractors,
Printing Machinery, Metal Forming Presses, Die Casting &
Plastic Processing Machinery, CNC Systems & Bearings.
Manufactured and supplied over 100,000 machines till
date for domestic market.
Exported over 18,000 machines.
3. HMT,AJMER
HMT AJMER PLANT WAS ORIGNALLY
ESTABLISHED AS “MACHINE CORPORATION
OF INDIA LIMITED”
IN JANUARY1967.
THIS UNIT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY
MERGED WITH HMT LIMITED ON
1 APRIL,1975.

7. Tractor Hydraulic
It is a system which used to lift the weight using the
pressurized hydraulic oil.
The important component of the system are following:Hosing
Distributer
Main shaft
Torsion shaft
Draft tube
Lever with cam
Cylinder piston and connecting rod
12. Foundry Shop
Foundry is a shop where metal is
melted for casting purpose. The
melted metal is poured into the
mold and left for sometime for
solidification.
HMT has 2 furnaces, One of 5T
And other of 3T capacity .
All furnaces are induction type & temperature in the furnaces
reaches up to 1400-1450˚C.
13. Casting
In this process, a liquid
material is usually poured
into a mould, which contains
a hollow cavity of the
desired shape, and then
allowed to solidify.
14. Small Parts
The section is primarily concerned with the manufacturer of small
parts of machine tools. The section is further divided into six
subsections.
Spindle Section
Round Section
Turret Section
Gear Section
Non Round Section
Sheet Metal Section
15. Heavy Parts
It is the shop which gives the shape to the largest castings
which comes from the foundry shop after being painted
rough.
This Section is divided into two sub-sections:
1. Planning
Planning: In this section, the job
planning is one of the basic
operations done for machining
process.
The figure shows Planning
operation on a CNC bed by
Plano-Milling Machine.
2. Boring
16. Boring: Boring is the operation
of enlarging an already drilled
hole. The holes are predrilled as
in casting only.
17. Plano milling machine
This is similar to a double housing planer but the tool can
be milling tool. One of the machines is TNC (three axis
turning centre) in which only one axis can be moved at a
time. Thus round jobs cannot b machined here.
Another machine is CNC in which two axis can be
moved simultaneously to machine round job. The length of
the bed is 2800mm.
18. Maintenance shop
Type of Maintenance:
Break-down
Preventive
Reconditioning
Importance of Maintenance:
To maintain the accuracy of machine.
For the safety of operator.
To maintain the efficiency of machine.

20. CNC TRAIN MASTER MACHINING CENTRE VMC 200T
PC:-
An economical and user-friendly PC based system specially designed to train
operators, technicians and engineers in CNC machine tools operation and
programming.
Compact table top mounted model most ideal for training institutes & technical
institutes.
3-Axis continuous path CNC system.
Manual tool changing with CNC prompting.
Stepless DC drive with RPM and load indication for headstock.
Hardened and ground spindle runs in precision antifriction bearings.
PC Based economical CNC system best suited to educational institutions.
Recirculating ballscrew and nut arrangement for longitudinal axis.
21. CNC Assembly
Computerized Numerical Control
Conventionally, an operator decides and adjusts various machines
parameters like feed , depth of cut etc depending on type of job , and
controls the slide movements by hand. In a CNC Machine functions and
slide movements are controlled by motors using computer programs.
Various CNC machines produced in HMT Ajmer unit are: GDS-15/22, GC175/225 ,GCL-140/200,IG-100/150 etc.
