2. DURATION OF THE UNIVERSE The calculations and data from the Markandeya Purana 46.22 states that the life of the Universe goes through four “Yugas”. Kali Yuga 432,000 years (The present Yuga) Dwapar Yuga 864,000 years Treta Yuga 1,296,000 years Krita Yuga l 1,728,000 years Maha Yuga (all four) l 4,320,000 years 1000 cycles of the four "Yugas" make one day of "Brahma", called one "Kalpa". One Kalpa is then 4,320,000 X 1000 = 4,320,000,000 years 360 such Kalpas makes a Brahma's year. 4,320,000,000 X 360 = 1,555,520,000,000, years Bhrama's life lasts for 100 years. 1,555,520,000,000 x 100 = 1,555,520,000,000,000 = Life of the Universe. At this point the whole universe is dissolved into its elements and a new cycle begins.
