3. Growing up
• Curtis Robinson was born on August 25, 1919 in
Orangeburg, South Carolina.
• He was the youngest of 6 children and everyone
called him C.C.
• C.C graduated from Claftin College in 1940 with a
degree in chemistry.
• C.C. did not get many job offers because he was
black.
4. Making a difference
• C.C. joined the Army in 1942 and was
accepted into the pilot program at the
Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.
• C.C. became one of the Tuskegee Airmen, who
were the first black pilots in the history of the
U.S. military
