Know the role of the BBFC

 The British Board of Film Classification

are an independent company who have
classified films since 1912.
 BBFC classify films for cinema viewing

and those that go straight to video or
DVD too.
 It’s the job of the BBFC to ensure films

follow legislation such as:
 Film Licensing
 Criminal Law
 Video Recordings Act

 The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) classifies films as follows:
Universal
Generally suitable for all ages

Cinema Release
Suitable for 15 and over

Parental Guidance
Suitable for all, parents judgement

Cinema Release
Suitable for 18 and over

Cinema Release
Suitable for those aged 12 and over
Video Release
Suitable for those aged 12 and over

and unlikely to cause undue anxiety.
The outcome should be reassuring.”
