Precast concrete has significantly shorter construction schedules than
cast-in-place concrete construction. The majority of the precast
fabrication is completed while the foundations are being installed in the
field. Once precast installation commences, the time needed to erect
the precast structure is significantly quicker than cast-in-place. Precast
employs a vertical construction method rather than the horizontal one
used in cast-in-place.

zones. Thus, complete sections of the building are ready for sub-trades to
enter and begin their work, sometimes in just a few days. Cast-in-place

design strength is achieved .This keeps any sub-trades work from beginning

that reduce the number of columns or joints, saving time and material costs. By
eliminating structural columns with long clear spans, foundation costs can be
reduced as much as two thirds of structural steel or cast-in-place structures.
Additionally, the new 12'-0" wide double tee requires fewer pieces to produce
and erect resulting in greater project economy.
