Barrow Elementary Suggested Summer Reading List
1. Summer is a great time for reading! Reading aloud and reading independently will strengthen the reading skills your child has learned this year and will promote great conversation! Below you will find suggested reading lists for students in grades K-5. These lists are not required reading, but are suggestions for students as they read over the summer. They are based on reading levels, other lists I found online, and my own browsing of the library shelves. Many of these titles are available in local bookstores and at the Athens Regional Library. Remember…if you keep a reading log over the summer, bring it back in the fall for a special treat. Sincerely, Andy Plemmons & Ellen Sabatini
PreK Suggested Summer Reading
Wordless Books: Practice telling a story by looking at the pictures in these books
The Three Little Pigs by David Wiesner
Once Upon a Banana by Jennifer Armstrong
The Grey Lady and the Strawberry Snatcher by Molly Bang
Shadow by Suzy Lee
Chalk by Bill Thomson
The Lion and the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney
Flotsam by David Wiesner
The Snowman by Raymond Briggs
Picture Storybooks
Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?
