   List the advantages of light emitting diode (LED).
      State the ratings of a typical LED.
      State the applications of LED and 7 segment display:

Ratings of a typical LED

    Forward voltage ≈ 1.6 V
    Current ≈ 20 mA
    Colour; Red, Green, Yellow, White
        depending on the material used in
            the diode

 Advantages of the LED

         Long operating life
         Small size
         Low power dissipation
         Cheap
         High reliability
         Quick response to changes in
          operating current
         Low operating voltage (1.2V to 2.4V)

  Disadvantages of the LED

          Easily damaged by
               excessive voltage or current
          Low light output
          Only small area illumination
