Newspaper Permission ocument
1. Newspaper Permission Document
The stories which have been planned for the newspaper (See the Newspaper Stories Plan
Document for further details) is about certain stories such as the housing crisis in the local
region and the only permission needed there is the permission to use the image of the
house from the owner.
The second permission needed would be for the interview segment on the second page
about the local veteran charity from the interviewee and the charity leader so that their
interview could be published on the newspaper.
No further permissions would be needed because the other stories and images being used
have already been consented by the individuals and/or the story feature/image is of an
event which needs no permission to be given.
In copyright law, there is a concept of fair use, also known as; free use, fair dealing, or fair
practice. Fair use sets out certain actions that may be carried out, but would not normally
be regarded as an infringement of the work. The idea behind this is that if copyright laws are
too restrictive, it may stifle free speech, news reporting, or result in disproportionate
penalties for inconsequential or accidental inclusion.
The copyrigh5t permissions have also been given in the slips below to allow my newspaper
to be able to use the logos of the charities or copyrighted information they may contain.
