1. Title of Film – Retribution
Story line and Summary
Our sequence will be a psychological thriller, based on the concept on
revenge. The scene will focus on the opening of one person being
victimised by a couple/few friends. A brief scene of the bullying will
take place while transitions of credits will change the pace to slightly
more fast tracked, with a news report narration, talking about the
disappearance of a young isolated teen, with a suspected suicide,
although no body has been found. This will play on the minds of the
bullies, causing them to feel awful with guilt, along with mysterious
events, which suggest they are to blame and that the victim is seeking
revenge from beyond the grave.
A series of acts combined with guilt will build up as if about to drive
the bullies to madness, or force them to feel like the victim did. In
order to keep enigmas in the scene, it shall be hinted to that the
victim could be alive and tormenting the bullies for revenge, and that
it could be the ghost of the victim haunting those responsible for
their death, so whether they are alive or not shall never be revealed.
This will remain mysterious and haunting to the audience, and the
mental state of the bullies at the end shall also be questionable.
Techniques
Techniques we intend to use include fast paced editing to show the
concern of the bullies when they think they’re responsible for the
suicide of someone. The bullying scene will contain fast movements,
possibly circling the victim (on the floor) to reveal how outnumbered
the victim is and the lack of power that they have, creating empathy
from the audience. A multi take of something falling to create tension,
such as a teardrop or an item owned by a victim, causing them to
believe they’re being haunted. The scene will be mostly dark lighting
to show the seriousness of the situation, creating a dark vibe, while
there will be a mixture of rapid and slow transitions depending on
the tension in the scene. If any music will be used it will be a dark,
minor key simple tune, probably not a song with lyrics. Some of the
more serious scenes, such as the bullying etc. may be edited to black
and white, to create more tension and work with the low key lighting
more sufficiently.
2. Funding/Distribution Issues
Depending on where we film there could be a cost to rent out the
venue, although this is unlikely as it may be possible to find similar
places that are free. The film itself has to be somewhat “creepy” to
pass for a psychological thriller, but not too severe to put off the
younger audience, coinciding with the age 15 rating given to our film,
to increase revenue. To ensure this we will not show graphic violence
or images that could be deemed to disturbing, with no severe foul
language used.
