1. Actors
We received several applications for our short
film. Unfortunately, we had no applications for
Josh but now we know we need to look for an
actor to fill the older Josh role and another to
fill the younger Josh role.
2. Mark
• For Mark, we only asked for one actor. We only
wanted the older Mark, we later decided on a
younger Mark as well but it was not advertised
on the Casting Call Pro website. We asked for a
man of late 30’s/early 40’s. These were the 3
applications we received.
3. Miguel’s acting age was around 30 and looked slightly too young for what we
were hoping for. Although trying to get him down anyway to see if he would be
suitable, he required too much money for us students to afford.
Bhasker made it very clear immediately that he knew he wasn’t suitable for
this role and wanted us to consider him for future roles. Although Bhasker
has appeared in such TV shows such as Emmerdale, Doctor Who, Only Fools
& Horses and many other high profile TV shows and films. Unfortunately
there was no role for him in this short film.
Tristan was far too young for the Mark role and assumed we wanted a
younger Mark as that’s what we posted for Josh and Mandy. We decided he
definitely was not suitable for the Josh role as he did not have the suitable
‘jock’ look we wanted for Josh. After agreeing to cast a younger Mark, we
tried to agree for him to act, however his travel expenses were too expensive
for us to cover and he was unwilling to do so.
4. Mark
We tried to contact other potential actors for the
role of Mark, but many were unwilling to act for
free and others not available for 2 separate
filming dates, a necessity for Mark.
I managed to contact James Payne, who I worked
with in ‘Hold the Line’ and he agreed to take on
the role of Mark. For the younger Mark, a young
actor studying drama and hoping to be a
professional actor heard that we required an
actor of around his age and then got in contact
with us.
5. Josh
• With not a lot of interest in this role, we had
to draft in Ian Goldsworthy, a former part-time
actor who was willing to fulfil this role. For the
younger role of ‘Jock Josh’, we managed to get
Sydney Camper, a passionate sportsman who
has done some acting previously in school.
6. Mandy
We required an older and a younger
Mandy, unfortunately we did not get any get any
applications for the older Mandy, however we get
plenty of applications for the younger Mandy.
7. Unfortunately, all the girls lived in London and the
cost of getting any of them here would be far too
expensive. We managed to contact a local drama
group and managed to get both a young and adult
Mandy for the short film.
8. Extras
• We managed to recruit extras from people we
knew as we did not require many. We got
enough people to children to fill a classroom
and enough adults to fill the school reunion.
