Observation: Office Hazard - Risk of Paper Shredder Accident Suggestion: Reduce risk of insurance payout to office cleaners by training them correctly on how to remove shredded paper from the paper shredder. ( e.g. Turn off the machine First and do not remove the shredded paper near the sharp cutter of the shredder) For staff who wear ties and girls with long hair, the shredder could pull the ties and long hair into the machine; a warning sign to be displayed on the paper shredder, to remind users to be mindful on the use of the shredder. The sign would prove that management did their part under workplace safety regulation. Therefore, no law suit would be effective against the company by the victim if an accident indeed occur. Suggestion: Power off the shredding machine at the end of each day. Benefits: A. Save electricity costs B. Align with environmentally green values and goals C. Reduce risk of danger to staff and vendors. D. Reduce management responsibility to the accident if a sign are to be put up.
