Koalas live in western Australia and weigh between 4-5 kilograms. They sleep 16-18 hours per day and spend about 3 hours eating eucalyptus leaves, leaving little time for other activities. Female koalas typically have one baby called a joey each year. When born, joeys are hairless, earless and blind, crawling into their mother's pouch to feed on milk for around 6 months as they develop fur, ears and eyes. Joeys then spend another 6 months on their mother's back, continuing to feed on milk while also eating leaves.
