Language is constructed by people,
Black Man’s Two dimension
Whit Man
Black man’s fellow
The psyche of the black man : dividing society
in to two categories.
This division effects his thinking and creates a
kind of gap between the two categories.
3. Hybridity:
The outcome of the mixure to the culture
of the colonizer that produses a person with no fixed
cultural marks, and he is in between of the two cultures as
he is neither accepted by one or the another.
A Negro behaves differently with a white man and with
another Negro.
Idea of completeness:
complete darkness is a larger idea of Negritude
Negritue - celibration of blackness
black is beauty.
4. “To speak is to exist absolutely for the other”
-Frantz Fnon
Speaking is one of the ways how the colored
man imposes and expresses his existence for the
other.
The act of speaking is a set of several points
that the black man carries to his own culture and
personality.
The idea of sublimation:
Philosophy has never saved anyone,
Our half problem occures due to lack of
sublimity
Black men are as intelligent as white men
Intelligence has never saved anyone
5. Inferiority Complex:
Fanon says that all nations that have been
colonized
have killed their own culture, customs and
language.
Adoption of the colonizer’s language and culture
that led to the decline of their mother land and culture
and creates a complex of inferiority
developed inferiority complex and as a result he
has buried his own culture
religious reason behind inferiority complex
6. Language – Jungle ≠ Civilizatio
The Negro becomes whiter as he renounces
his blackness, his Jungle
Mastery of language affords remarkable
power
Colonizer’s language define as a civilize
language
Language is a power and it gives power to
those who master it well
Language ≠ creole
Language = Colonizer’s language
Language that makes the idea of inferiority
clearer
7. Idea of inferiority shows the importance and power
given to the language by society
Idea of inferiority shows how language civilizes Negro
and makes him White
Some families completely forbid the use of Creole and
mothers ridicule their children for speaking it
In school the children of Martinique are taught to scorn
dialect
The middle class in the Antilles never speak Creole,
except to their servants
8. Fanon’s comparison of French imperialism in Africa with
the period when the England ruled over England
Why Bretons were not civilized and did not have
inferiority complex like Africa did
Fanon’s rejection of Darwinism
“IT has been said that the Negro is the link
between monkey and man – meaning of course white
man”
-Frantz Fanon
Language creates opportunity:
“Historically, it must be understood that the Negro wants
to speak French because it is the key that can open doors
which were still barred to him fifty years ago”
