2. SLAYER: Album name is “show no mercy” written in a fire sort of font with the ends of “N” and “H” drawn like devil’s tail. The band name is under a “star of David” which is a symbol of protection. This star is made by three swords, but the star is broken as “Anubis” the Egyptian God of the Dead has taken out one sword showing danger to protection. The album art uses different symbols and font styles to convey the message of destruction and the genre of the music is clearly seen as thrash metal. ALI AZMAT: “Social Circus” is Ali Azmat’s solo album as the album cover only exhibits his image of. We can see his name written in Urdu language that reflects the fact that he belong to a Urdu speaking country. Then again his name is written in English and its reflection is shown on the other side. The image redirects the name of the album social circus as there is a graffiti of several cultures as a tattoo on his face and neck. This gives a cluttered and confused idea which represents our vicious social circus today.
3. NIRVANA: “Bleach” album name means fading of color. Therefore we see the band picture but colors of the picture are black and white with high contrast showing as if the picture is actually bleached. Moreover, the shot reflects the band energy and we can predict the genre of the music that it must be rock since there are electric guitars along with energetic figures jamming. However the font used for the text is simple which is a hallmark of the nirvana albums. METALLICA: The album art is in accordance with the name of the album. As the name suggests “death magnetic’’ therefore, there is a coffin shown in a grave. Around the grave there is a magnetic field. So the image reflects what would be inside the album. The name of the band is written in their conventional way –somewhat like a thunder lightening.
4. SLIPKNOT: Album cover is a image of 8 band members with terrifying masks. Each person has a different mask and these masks are the hallmark of the band. Photography, body language and masks are the integral part of the cover design. The death metal genre is easy to recognize with somewhat scary or rebellious appearance of the figures. “slipknot” is written in blood red font color and style to give it a horrific overall look to the cover as the background of the cover is also red. LAMB OF GOD: Distorted image of a devil is seen. The album design is looks simple but the but yet very complicated and catchy. The font used is very classic nevertheless very straight forward.
5. PINK FLOYD: Alum art is very to the point. As the name is “wall” therefore the background is of a simple matt bricked wall. The text used is plain black and the font style used is like as if hand written. Its straightforward yet mysterious therefore, could be easily predicted as a music of Psychedelic rock genre inside. THE BEATLES: This album cover is very interesting. Its is comic style. Somehow give a feeing that the music inside would be pop. Design is made by playing around with different highlighted colors. A sketch of four band members is seen who are is some sort of a fiction land with a submarine under a rock, green apples in air, weird looking trees etc. everything is very haphazard. A yellow submarine is shown as this is the name of the magazine.
6. IRON MAIDEN: Iron Maiden's mascot, Eddie, is a perennial fixture in the band's horror-influenced album cover art. Like every time this album “killer” is also animated. The image goes with the album name as the half skeleton looking animate figure is holding an axe with blood on it and is killing a man. The mise en sen of the cover is mainly a combination of dark and highlighted colors to give it a more horror look. So the genre of the music inside could be easily judged from the cover which is heavy metal. PUDDLE OF MUDD: Long-shot of the Band is used as the background picture. Its simple and is mainly publicizing band member’s face. As the background of the picture is in some abandoned junk yard so we can see the rebellious nature and the genre of the band which is mainly grunge/alternative rock. Text style has been given importance here. The two “D”s are written the other way round so the design helps to remember the band name.
