Dr. Julian Theng launched the first edition of "A Long-Sighted Look at Presbyopia – Facts, Fiction and Hope" in 2007 to address problems with presbyopia. Eagle Eye Centre is committed to leading treatment for presbyopia and providing patients with the best possible care through a thorough understanding of their situations and a comprehensive range of treatment options. Presbyopia is caused by changes in the lens and supporting muscles that make the lens stiffer and less elastic with age. Treatments for presbyopia include LASIK monovision, corneal inlays, progressive spectacles, multifocal contact lenses, and multifocal lens implants.

Treat Presbyopia With EEC's Comprehensive Options
1. In 2007, Dr. Julian Theng launched the first edition of
“A Long-Sighted Look at Presbyopia – Facts, Fiction and
Hope” to address the problems, issues and solutions for
those affected by presbyopia.
With EEC’s commitment to lead the way in the field of
presbyopia, our patients can expect to receive the best
possible treatment, through a thorough appreciation of

PRESBYOPIA
2. The aging process causing Presbyopia is believed to be the
result of changes occurring in the proteins within the lens,
making the lens stiffer and less elastic with age. Another
contributing factor may be age-related changes affecting and
weakening circular muscle fibres that hold and support the lens.
LASIK and Monovision, Corneal Inlays, Progressive Spectacles,
Multifocal Contact Lenses and Multifocal Lens Implants are the
options available for presbyopia sufferers. EEC is pleased to
offer a comprehensive range of treatment options for presbyopia that are clinically proven and available in the market today.
Monovision is when one eye is corrected for far vision and the
other is corrected for near vision. One of the ways to deal with
Presbyopia is to make use of LASIK proceduce to produce
monovision. LASIK is a proceduce where lasers are used to
reshape the cornea to correct the vision in the eye.
Corneal Inlays
Corneal inlays are a special range of micro-devices placed
within the cornea to offer correction for presbyopia. The
installation procedure for such inlays generally involves
the creating of a flap or pocket in the cornea and inserting the inlay directly over the centre of the eye. Such
inlays are constructed using biocompatible material and
have the benefit of reversibility, if necessary.
1) Small-Aperture Inlays like the Kamra inlay by
Acufocus aim to use a pin-hole opening in the centre of
an opaque circular micro-disc to allow only focused light
to reach the retina, offering a wider range of improved
vision for all distances.
2) Refractive Inlays like the ICOLENS inlay by Neoptics employ the same multifocal lens concept as its
contact lens and spectacle contact lens counterparts,
offering two refractive zones of focus for near and
distance vision.
3) Space-occupying Inlays like the Raindrop inlay by
ReVision use a simple yet effective approach to manage
presbyopia. As its name suggests, the space occupied by
the inlay results in the raising of the cornea to create an
overall steepening, offering a natural multifocal effect.
