The NFL and United Way Organization have teamed up to get kids active through their new ad campaign, Play 60.
Through the reauthorization of this act, schools are providing their students with opportunities to make healthy choices that they hope will carry through to their everyday lives. Aside from the elimination of junk foods, schools are also providing students with the set-up of new clubs or organizations to promote active lifestyles and prevent obesity and other leading diseases.
The creation of the “Strong Kids Club” gave students various opportunities who were unhealthy and were looking for a changed in their lives. The exercise group meets three times a week, after school, at a local recreation center. Erin Wiley, the assessment program’s coordinator, leads the third to sixth graders in an hour of exercises and gets then excited , through her enthusiastic lifestyle, about exercising. Many of the families who are involved with this program say “the assessments and classes, which are free, have helped their kids.”
I had students through grades eighth through twelfth fill out a survey for my hands on project.
The age groups of the students. Most of the students took the survey seriously, knowing it was for a senior seminar project, while others just checked off all of the sports just to be funny.
The results of the survey turned out to be more positive than I thought. Aside from three students, all of the students participate in a least one sport here at the high school. Overall, the survey was a success and helped me to determine the kind of participation there is in the athletics in our school. This survey helped prove my thesis that physical education is important to keep in school systems because it keeps kids fit and active, both in and out of school.
This is the survey I conducted for my hands on project. Explain problems and successes. Was it reliable or not?
Lastly, physical education is the stepping stone for leading long, happy, healthy lives and without the help of parents, and more importantly, school administrations, children and teens would not be receiving the amount of knowledge and exercise they need daily. Physical education would not have the same positive impacts on kids today if it were not for all the work schools and parents do to keep their kids fit and healthy.
