2. 3rd grade friendly letter writing Essential question- Why letter writing? Unit question-what will my child learn from this? Content question-how will making a letter writhing help with grammer?
3. Summary of letter writing I will use charts, worksheets, and websites to orient students about the five parts of a friendly letter. Demonstrate literal understanding of print material. EL(3) 19. Demonstrate vocabulary growth developed through reading and listening to literature. EL(3) 20. Use the writing process with guidance when composing different forms of written expression. EL(3) 21 . Know and apply principles of grammar and usage in writing, speaking, and presenting and apply mechanics in writing. EL(3) 27. Write meaningful simple sentences and short paragraphs. EL(3) 28. Spell correctly in final written products. ELA(3) 3. Use a wide range of strategies, including using context clues and predicting outcomes, to comprehend third-grade recreational reading materials in a variety of genres. ELA(3) 9. Compose narrative texts using an introductory paragraph, specific time frames, clear sequencing of events, and a conclusion. ELA(3) 10. Apply mechanics in writing, including capitalization of proper nouns and titles of people and appropriate end marks, abbreviations, and commas with dates. TC2(3-5) 8. Role of teacher/student The teacher will use an instructional chart for writing a friendly letter to introduce the lesson, emphasizing the five parts of a letter (heading, greeting, body, closing, and signature) and their structure. Student should be able to write sentences using correct language and grammar.
