exports in 2012.
• Counties from the Los Angeles metropolitan area that reported exports in 2012 included: Los
Angeles County ($51.0 billion), Orange County ($24.0 billion).
• For the top 50 U.S. merchandise export destinations, Los Angeles ranks among the major
metropolitan area exporters to Mexico ($18.3 billion), Canada ($8.9 billion), China ($7.2 billion),
Japan ($6.0 billion), and South Korea ($3.1 billion).
• Los Angeles ranks among the major metropolitan area exporters of Computer and Electronic
Products ($21.6 billion), Transportation Equipment ($14.1 billion), Miscellaneous Manufactured
Commodities ($5.7 billion), Chemicals ($5.0 billion), and Machinery, Except Electrical ($3.7
billion).
• In 2012, Los Angeles benefited from existing trade agreements, exporting $27.2 billion to the
NAFTA region and $589 million to the CAFTA-DR region.
