Fafsa renewal 2014-2015
1. Online School Code: 002678
Ohio residents only must add a second school code of 015298
2. 1. How will I know when it’s time to renew my FAFSA?
Since you successfully submitted last year’s FAFSA
online, you should receive an automatic email reminder
from the Federal Processing Center reminding you that
you can reapply for FAFSA renewal on the web starting
on January 1 of the coming year. We will also send you
a reminder.
If you plan on filing taxes for 2013, we recommend you
wait about 3 weeks after you file to take advantage of
the IRS Data Retrieval Tool link on the FAFSA on the
web.
3. 2. What is the deadline for the FAFSA?
We recommend you complete your FAFSA as soon
as possible (typically 3 weeks after you file your
taxes) to ensure that you are considered for
every type of aid possible, both from your school
and the government. You should complete your
2014-15 FAFSA by April 30th.
4. 3. Where do I go for renewal of my FAFSA on
the web?
Go to the www.fafsa.ed.gov and click on
“Returning User, Green Login Button”, and the
next page enter your personal information as
directed. Then select FAFSA Renewal Button
5. 4. What if I lost or forgot my PIN?
No worries. At the top of the FAFSA main page
you’ll see a “PIN Site” link. This will take you to
a page where you can request a duplicate PIN if
you’ve forgot yours.
* Be aware that your PIN expires if it hasn’t been
used for 18 months, in which case you will have
to apply for a new one.
6. 5.What information will I have to resubmit?
The renewal of FAFSA on the web does lighten
the workload a bit since you can use your PIN to
automatically fill in “reusable” information.
However, you will have to update certain things
every year, –like your or if you are considered a
dependent student; your parents’ financial info,
which likely has changed in the past year.
7. 6. Can you clarify the type of financial info I need to
provide?
According to the FAFSA government website, you’ll need your
most recent W-2 forms as well as any other records of money
you’ve received in the past year, as well as your most recent
Federal Income Tax Return.
(Based on your age and how you answer dependency questions
on your FAFSA, you may need to include your parents financial
information)
In addition, you will have to provide your own (and, if you’re
a dependent, your parents’) current bank statements as well
as records of any investments.
8. 7. What happens if my FAFSA renewal is late?
Submitting your FAFSA as soon as possible but no
later than April 30th is the best way to ensure
that you are considered for as many different
types of aid as possible.
New York State residents should complete their
TAP application. Use TAP code 7732 for an
Associate’s Program and 6732 for a Bachelor’s
program.
