42. Internship ProgramOverview Internship is a very important component of our program. Internship is done in the spring of the junior year and the fall of the senior year. We have aligned our program with the traditional high schools. Senior dates: Aug. 30-Nov. 19

48. Mentor Responsibilities Minimum Hours Required: Allow the intern to spend time each week at the work site. A minimum of 3 hours per week must be completed. Assist students in the development and completion of project chosen for the semester.
49. Mentor Responsibilities General Role of Mentor: Serve as representative of career or degree area by introducing intern to company, industry, or business. Provide the intern with comprehensive view of organization and focus on the roles, responsibilities, & functions of business. Share information regarding the skills, knowledge, and/or background that are the essential to be successful in your position. Offer opportunities for the intern to do independent projects. Share the positive as well as the negative aspects of the job. Provide supervision or designate someone to oversee intern projects. Assist the intern in identifying realistic goals. Communicate problems to the Internship Program Coordinator.
50. Student Responsibilities Requirements: Interns must complete a Pre-Field Interview with their mentor. Time logs must be signed on a weekly basis and turned in weekly showing that the student has completed 3 hours a week. One journal entry must be completed each week via E4, questions can be found on student’s E4 class site. Interns must turn in a digital picture of themselves interacting with the mentor. Interns must complete a midterm presentation to the internship coordinator. Interns must complete a final presentation of their project at school or at the mentor’s place of business.
51. Student Responsibilities Continued Interns must develop a project with the guidance of their mentors that is worked on through out the semester. Interns must complete 3 Interviews. Interns must complete a portfolio that is due at the end of the semester, information regarding this assignment is on their E4 account. Interns must hand write a Thank you note to the mentor at the end of the semester. Interns are responsible for obtaining the mentor’s evaluation forms and getting the form turned in to the Internship Program Coordinator.

65. Service Learning Letter Jacket Students are allowed to letter in Service Learning at CHECHS. Jacket must be bought by student. 150 hours of Service Learning must be done. 50 hours must be done per school year, meaning not all can be done in the summer. Maximum of 50 hours with one organization.

Family Connection is a comprehensive website that you can use to help in making decisions about courses, colleges, and careers. Family Connection is linked with Counselor’s Office, a service that counselor’s use in their office to track and analyze data about college and career plans, so it provides up-to-date information that is specific to our school.
