Before and After Room Makeovers
1. Before & After Room Makeovers Designs by: Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Decorating Consultant/Owner www.decdens.com/btabak 717-541-1659
2. BEFORE This client wanted an oriental theme for this living room makeover.
3. AFTER The oriental theme was achieved by applying bamboo and crane motif wallpaper on a feature wall. Oriental inspired window treatments add a unique finishing touch. Design by Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Photography by Paul Emberger
5. AFTER The client’s classic furniture was updated with contemporary finishes—textured wallpaper, updated window treatments, area rug and accessories. Design by Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Photography by Paul Emberger
6. BEFORE When this homeowner was asked what colors she wanted for her bedroom update, she was not sure, but she did know that she wanted to keep the existing picture.
7. AFTER The client’s wish to keep the existing picture inspired the coral, terracotta, and peach color scheme for this bedroom update. Design by Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Photography by Paul Emberger
8. BEFORE This log home was in need of homey, casual yet traditional style.
9. AFTER Who can’t see themselves enjoying this log home? The mood was set for this comfy family room with the placement of furnishings that are masculine yet stylish. Design by Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Photography by Paul Emberger
10. BEFORE This sunroom was cold and uninviting. The client wanted the room to reflect a garden theme with a contemporary flair.
11. AFTER No floral, wicker or rattan—it’s not your usual sunroom! We used varying shades of blue—turquoise, robin’s egg and cobalt— to give this sunroom its unique personality. Design by Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Photography by Paul Emberger
12. BEFORE We were called to this basement makeover just as the sheet rock went up. This family wanted a family friendly room in which to relax and entertain.
13. AFTER This family will enjoy many fun-filled evenings in their new rec room. There’s plenty of seating, a bar and cocktail table with extra benches underneath to accommodate many friends and family members. Design by Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Photography by Paul Emberger
14. BEFORE The owners of this media room wanted a theme to reflect their love of classic movies.
15. AFTER This red, black and latte color scheme enhances the collage of black and white photos of classic movie stars that adorn the walls. Design by Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Photography by Paul Emberger The heavy duty fabric on the ottomans allow them to be used as tables or extra seating when the whole family gets together to enjoy a movie.
16. BEFORE Inspiration for any room redesign can come from many places—an exiting area rug, a favorite vacation spot, or in this case, existing artwork. This room transformation was inspired by the picture on the far wall that depicts a scene out of India, with a young man serenading his young love.
17. AFTER We played up the India motif and had a mural of the Taj Mahal painted on this bathroom’s wall. Don’t worry, we moved the inspiration picture to another wall. Design by Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Photography by Paul Emberger Can’t you imagine yourself enjoying a bath in this exotic bathroom?
18. BEFORE My client wanted to update her living room while keeping the heirloom sofa and a few other items.
19. AFTER We reupholstered the client’s heirloom sofa in a taffy colored fabric, added elegant window treatments, an area rug and accessories to create the updated traditional living room. Design by Barbara Tabak, C.I.D. Photography by Paul Emberger
