Giant pandas are black and white bears native to China. They have distinctive black patches around their eyes, over the ears, and across their body and legs. Pandas primarily eat bamboo and can consume over 26 pounds per day. Their habitat has been reduced by human activities and now they live mainly in Sichuan, Gansu, and Shaanxi provinces. Pandas are generally solitary and give birth to only one cub after a 5 month gestation period. Their population in the wild is around 2,000 individuals.
