This document summarizes how a media product represents social groups. It discusses how the movie represents two social classes: 1) A middle-class family, characterized by owning a small home, branded clothing and shoes. 2) A lower-class of kidnappers, characterized by their language, cheap clothing, and dirty vehicle. It also discusses how the movie Dabangg portrays similar social classes - a middle-class police family and lower-class criminal characters. Class is defined by the social group one belongs to, while status refers to whether they are rich or poor, popular or unpopular.

1. Q:2) How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
The social groups that I am going to use will consist of,
• Age/class,
Eros international makes movie for certain age group.
Their movies consist of violence and crime which attracts
certain age of people e.g 15-50 years of people will watch
action based movies which has loud noises, explosions,
fighting and blood shed. Older people will not enjoy
watching these kinds of movies. They have made movie for
all class of people, elite, middle, lower class. Movies made
by Eros international consist of all these classes in them.
In dabangg 2 they have shown middle class family and
negative characters are lower class. The movie which I
have made is also consist of a middle class family and the
kidnappers. Eros international specifically targets
younger audience. That thing inspired me to make a movie
related to action/crime.

2. Characteristic of charter.
• The movie which I have made consist of two classes middle class
and lower class. The boy belongs to middle class family
because he has nice small house, he is wearing branded
football shirts and shoes. The kidnappers belongs to the lower
class has their style of language shows I, cheap dressing and
messy hair style also they have small and dirty car. In
dabangg exactly the same thing is shown the family of a police
officer is middle class and all the negative characters are
from lower class.

3. Class and status.
• Class is defined by in which group the certain sect of
people belong to, category. Status has to do with their
lives are they rich or poor, popular or unpopular. In my
movie family is middle class and their status is in the
middle not that popular and not so famous. In dabangg the
police officer is a middle class but he has ha high status,
every one in town knows him.
