of a web address and how to create hyperlinks
using html. You will create 4 additional pages and
link them to make a working ‘website’ for the zoo.

5. Uniform Resource Locator
Every Web site has an address call the Uniform
Resource Locator or URL.
1.http:// (hypertext transfer protocol) is a code
that helps computers talk to each other
2.www or world wide web lets the computer know
the file is located on the World Wide Web.
3.myschool.com is a domain name or where the
Web site is hosted.
4.homework.html is the file or Web page

7. Creating Hyperlinks on your Web page
To create a link in HTML, you need the anchor tag:
<a>…</a>
Inside the tag, you need the attribute: HREF
(hypertext reference).
For example, to create a link to the mymaths
website you would need to write the code:
<a href="http//:www.mymaths.com">mymaths</a>.

8. Task 17: Zoo Homepage
1.Load the text editor and open your HTML document: zoohomepage.html
2.Link each of the animals in your animals table to a website or webpage about
the animal. For example the word ‘Zebra’ could be linked to:
http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/animals/zebra.html
3.In the menu table link the words:
1. ‘Homepage’ to zoohomepage.html
2. ‘Animals’ to zooanimalspage.html
3. ‘Park Info’ to zooparkinfopage.html
4. ‘Photographs’ to zoophotographspage.html
5. ‘Contact’ to zoocontactpage.html
4.Save the document
5.Create four copies of the document and rename the files as above
6.Edit the html of each page to change the title
7.Preview the homepage and test the links – the titles in the tabs should change
