2. We are planning on showing the
villain in the reflection of a few
mirrors throughout the trailer;
displaying her haunting the former
best friend. One of the mirrors we
plan to use is a bathroom cabinet
with mirrors on either door.
This will be very effective as we can have the friend 1 (the former
best friend) standing in front of the mirror as if everything is
normal, she will open the cabinet to get something and when she
closes the cabinet friend 2 will be standing behind her (the
villain/dead friend). But the editing of this will be used well; she will
be seen for two seconds but a straight cut to black will be used to
give an air of confusion to the audience – as well as showing the
building tension that will be found in the film.
3. Another mirror we are planning on having
the friend 2 show up in is a long portrait,
bedroom mirror. This mirror is found in
many homes which could effect the
audience physiologically; thinking they
could see the girl in theirs after seeing the
film. The lighting will be quite dark but
the friend 1 will be quite casual and not
bothered or expecting anything but as she
walks away from the mirror friend 2 will
turn up to the side of her. As friend 2
stands there watching friend 1, friend 1’s
reflection will be seen getting further and
further away in the distance – with friend
1 not seeing her former friend behind her.
After this take we can have the shot fade
to black to create a mysterious air to the
trailer.
4. Friend 2 (the villain) is going to kill her
former friend with a classic, old fashioned
knife. The big, meat knife is quite
intimidating and can be seen by the
audience to be quite menacing;
representing the violence foreshadowed
from friend 2 towards friend 1.
The knife will only be glimpsed in the trailer as we don’t want to
give too much away, but friend 2 will be seen picking it up and
walking away with it in her hand. By having this sort of weapon
in the trailer we change the main theme/tone of the horror from
ghostly and supernatural to bloody – as the knife foreshadows a
vivid killing of friend 1.
