      Copy cataloger for past 4 years
         enjoys detail oriented work

    on carts and shelves

   Search for authority          Jim’s encoding level
    records in OCLC                for cataloging is k, so
   Look for best                  materials he creates

    records, avoiding              sent to a cataloging

   Fix any errors and
    removes
    unnecessary fields
After a record is copied or created for a book
   book is barcoded and scanned
   spine labels printed and applied

   item is re-packaged into a more durable case
   barcodes added and scanned into record
   spine labels printed and applied
   item is sent to the owning library
   Recent population of Korean immigrants.
   Money given to purchase Korean books.
   How do you catalog them?
   How do the Korean patrons locate them in the catalog?
   Books sent to a cataloging company with a Korean
    cataloger and paid 10.00 each book to have a record
    created.
   Keep the textbook – you’ll need it later
   AACR2 handbook & DDC books
   Learn about RDA (Resource Description and
    Access) *an evolution of the cataloging principles from AACR2
   Websites suggested
     Dewey Summaries
     Dewey Blog
