Right Path for You?
Introduction
A lot of people seem to think that a job in sales pays
the most. Indeed, the promise of commissions can
be considered quite tempting. But you also need to
be reminded that only 50 percent of sales people
actually meet their sales quota!
So, before anything else, you have to ask yourself
whether or not you are made for the job. In this
presentation, we will detail some attributes that most
successful sales people have in common.
Successful Salesmen Are
People to People
It does not mean that you necessarily have to be the extraextroverted type to build a successful career in this field. In
fact, there are introverted individuals who have also gained
their share of success. It simply means you need to be
interested in people.
This job requires interaction. You
have to be good at listening,
because this is how you determine
what makes your target tick. In short,
it is about building rapport. And top
sales professionals are excellent at
drawing their customers and
prospects in.
They Are Willing to Put
Themselves Out There
If you worry too much about what other people think of
you, you may not become successful in this line of
work. Why? Because you may become so worried about
rejection, that you hesitate about taking risks. And,
unfortunately enough, this comes with the territory.
Effective sales professionals do not fear rejection, in
fact they embrace it. They understand that they cannot be
victorious at all times and that nothing is personal here.
This is why they are confident about putting themselves on
the line.
Top Sales Pros Do Not
Fear Failure
In the same vein, successful
salesmen are not afraid to fail.
Just because you did not meet your
sales quota today does not mean
you will fail for the entire week.

One of the most admirable characteristics of sales
professionals is that they bounce back easily and quickly.
They live day after day, facing the risk of failure. But they do
not mind because they are assured their failure in the past
does not necessarily determine their future. They live by the
thought that they can make up for the loss the next day
and that is what motivates them to do so.
They Don't Rely on Luck
Successful sales professionals do not believe
there is a supernatural force behind their
sales results or that they are dependent on
chance. Rather, they know that they are in full
control of their job. If they do not perform well
today, it simply means their efforts were not strong
enough. So, they work harder next time. They
strongly believe in discipline, dedication, hard
work and sacrifice.
Sales Pros Simply Love
Their Jobs

They do not dread selling as some people do.
They enjoy the opportunity of talking to and
meeting different kinds of people. More
than the financial rewards, these people
genuinely love what they do and they would
not trade it for any other career in the world.
Conclusion
Top sales professionals do not question whether or
not they are in the right career path. They simply
know they are because they feel content. And they
embrace the opportunity for all its risks and
rewards.
If you share the same qualities, then you have
what it takes to succeed in this field. Otherwise,
you may want to rethink your options. If you have had
doubts from the start, it could mean trouble. But if you
have the same drive, confidence, discipline, dedication
and genuine interest in people, you may just be the
next sales professional to hit it big time.
