Activity 1: Creating Your Profile

2. Welcome!
In this activity, you are going to learn how to share basic personal information about
yourselves and your family members by doing different tasks to reinforce your
listening, reading, speaking and writing skills. You have an estimated time.
1st communicative result
Your Profile
Watch and listen to the following conversation between Mr. Guzmán and Juliet and
be ready to answer some questions.
Task 1: Registering to a Social Network
John is worried at this moment because he wants to register on a new social network.
His problem is that he does not understand the registration form very well. Read
and listen to his story and, then, fill out a social network registration form with the
information about him. Click on the button to download the form and write the
answers in the text boxes. You can also download the checklist with the assessment
criteria for the task.
Task 2: Create your Profile
Martha has a lot of friends on a social network. She likes chatting with them. Read and
listen to the information about her contacts. Then, start creating your own profile.

3. Task 3: Let me introduce myself
Some distinguished people also have a public profile in social networks. Click
on the button to watch the video of an interview that a successful entrepreneur
posted in her profile. Based on the video “This is me”, record a video of your
own personal introduction and send it to your tutor by means of a file or a link.

Task 4: Tagging your friends
Antonio likes photos and tagging them with their corresponding names. Now, he
wants to talk about each one. Read and listen to the material “My life in pictures”
to know about the people in his pictures. Then, find a group photo of you or one
of your friends. The photo must show, at least, five friends. In case you do not
have this photo, you can use one from a newspaper, a magazine or internet. Then,
introduce the people in the photo in a written report using the expressions this,
that, these, those, a or an. Remember to include the picture in your report.
Task 5: My personal information
Participate in an oral interaction session with your teacher to talk about your
personal information. Your teacher has to establish the corresponding interaction
tool. Remember to check the materials “Online friends” and “This is me” to help

Watch the following video about Karen and Jacob talking about their family.
Task 1: Family tree
Your online friend, Carlos, is a doctor and his daughter, Gina, is a little kid who
asks questions about her family as she looks at some photos. Read and listen
to the description he makes about his family. Then, make your own family tree
using pictures or drawings and include information about professions. Moreover,
write a text to describe your tree and send it to your tutor. Click on the button to

Task 2: My Busy Family
Participate in an oral interaction session to talk about your family based on the
information of your family tree. Click on the button to download the assessment

Task 3: What are they like?
Sonya is a social worker at a primary school. She asks questions to a group of
kids about the physical characteristics in their families. Listen and read Sonya´s
interview and, then, with one of your partners, record a video of an interview
about physical characteristics in your family. One of you asks the questions and
