2. José Rizal was a very prolific writer from a young age. When he was 7 years old, he wrote a play that was staged during the town fiesta At 8 Rizal wrote his renowned poem entitled "Sa AkingMgaKabata" During his time in Ateneo and UST he wrote numerous poems, plays, and other literary pieces; he joined contests and emerged as the winner several times

As leader of the reform movement of Filipino students in Spain, he contributed essays, allegories, poems, and editorials to the Spanish newspaper La Solidaridad in Barcelona(in this case Rizal used a pen name, Dimasalang and LaongLaan). The core of his writings centers on liberal and progressive ideas of individual rights and freedom; specifically, rights for the Filipino people.

Jose Rizal was recognized as the great novelist of the Propaganda Movement with his books Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. He is considered to be the most outstanding Propagandist due to the great impact his novels had done on the development of a Filipino national consciousness. Jose Rizal was the Propaganda Movement’s most brilliant figure and his writings had a wide impact in the Philippines.
