China’s bromine and bromides industry has witnessed great changes in the production and consumption in the past years and many producers’ competitiveness also differs largely. The demand for bromides from medical intermediate, flame retardant, dyeing intermediate and pesticides has directly driven China’s bromine and bromides industry and kept increasing from 2005 to 2007 with CAGR of 3%~5%. As the main raw material of bromides, China’s bromine output also increased fast with CAGR of over 25% from 2005 to 2007, making it become the third largest bromine production country in the world. Although the demand for bromides decreased largely in 2008 owing to global financial crisis, domestic market rebounded rapidly in 2009 and the overseas markets are believed to recover in coming 1~2 years. Moreover, the bromine deep processing is still in the stage of initial development, which suggests that there is a tremendous room for further development. As China plays an increasingly important role in global bromine and bromides industry, it is urgent to figure out the latest situation of bromine and bromide industry in China for all market participants, especially the new entrants. 1） Aims and background
China’s bromine and bromides industry has witnessed great changes in the production and
