2. CCM Data & Primary Intelligence
Description:
World Outlook of Glyphosate 2009-2014 edited by CCM International is the world first research about
global glyphosate. This report is comprised of 3 main sections including supply and demand,
glyphosate situation in each country and flow research. 10 key players are profiled.
From global insight, this report will present to readers a clear picture about production, distribution and
application of glyphosate in the global market especially 28 countries including 8 Asian-Pacific
countries (China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Israel and Australia), 5 Europe
countries (Belgium, Germany, Turkey, Russia and Ukraine), 2 North American countries (USA and
Canada), 1African country (S. Africa) and all the South American countries. With more than 53,000
words and over 300 tables and figures, this report will enable readers to gain unrivalled understanding
about global glyphosate market.
Through this report, you can:
Be well informed of the supply of intermediate and glyphosate⎫ formulations in these 28 countries
including key players and brands;
Get to⎫ know the application of glyphosate in these 28 countries breakdown by crop, growing periods
(pre-seeding stage, pre-emergence stage and post-emergent stage);
Gain intelligence on possible activities of Chinese glyphosate⎫ players;
Understand the demand of glyphosate in each county and⎫ continent;
Have a clear picture of glyphosate flow among some important⎫ countries
Know the purchasing behavior of some key multinational players⎫ such as Monsanto, Dow, Syngenta,
Nufarm
As the largest pesticide, glyphosate has developed to be the main profit source for many companies,
especially the top enterprises with broad sales channel in crop protection market. What is the market
share of main players in glyphosate market? Which competitive strategies do they take to strengthen
their position in glyphosate market? You can find answers in the report.
Undoubtedly, GM crops and no-till farming are the main drivers for glyphosate consumption in the
global. For the same reason, South America is the largest contributor to the world glyphosate
application hike in the past 5 years. Will its glyphosate market Which region(s) will be the⎫still hold the
growth trend in the near future? Which new GM crops are likely to be⎫next growth point for
glyphosate market? What are the attitudes⎫approved in main countries for glyphosate consumption?
of main countries to GM crops and their impacts on glyphosate?
CCM will give you an insightful analysis on the above questions.
Besides, bio-fuel is another key factor for glyphosate consumption. Due to the global energy crisis,
bio-fuel, recognized as an important substitute for petroleum, gains rapid development all over the
world, causing the growth of demand for the feed stocks, such as cane, oil palm, cassava, etc. Those

crops planted areas rise to meet the demand of bio-fuel. The main countries’ policies to bio-fuel and
their impacts on glyphosate is comprised in the report.
In a bid to figure out the glyphosate flow, CCM has dived deep into the global glyphosate supply chain,
with glyphosate technical producers, glyphosate trade, key players and brands in main countries
analyzed systematically. Moreover, an insightful research on the source and distribution of glyphosate
of the top players in glyphosate market is provided in the report.
It seems that glyphosate has enjoyed good days in most countries in the world, but it still faces some
risks. What are they and how will they affect glyphosate in the future? You can also find answers to
them.

Executive summary:
Glyphosate is the world's biggest selling herbicide, whose sales have grown sharply both in value and
volume. By 2008, global glyphosate sales have reached USD xxxx billion, with consumption volume of
xxxx tonnes.
Global glyphosate technical supply is mainly distributed in China, USA, Argentina and Brazil and
PMIDA is mainly produced in China, USA and Brazil. The total flow volume of glyphosate technical is
about xxxx tonnes in 2008 in the world. Formulation production concentrates in China, USA, Belgium,
Argentina, Australia, etc.
China, taking up 70% of the world’s glyphosate technical output, is consolidating its position.
Glyphosate capacity in China has increased crazily from xxxx tonnes in 2006 to xxxx tonnes in 2008,

and current xxxx t/a. The capacity will keep increasing in the coming few years.
Monsanto continues to be the top player, though its market share is decreasing. About xxxx of
Monsanto’s glyphosate technical is produced in its production sites in USA. Over xxxx of the production
is exported to its production sites in Belgium and Malaysia to make glyphosate based products such as
Roundup, which is then distributed all over the world.
Driven by expansion of GM crops and no-till farming, the world glyphosate consumption has been
soaring, with CAGR of about xxxx by volume in 2004~2008. However, the growth scenario varies
largely by region.
Asia Pacific is the region that has the greatest growth potential in the world. In this region, glyphosate is
mainly used in traditional crops, no-till farming and economic crops. Though this region took up only
xxxx of the world’s glyphosate market in 2008, it is expected to replace South America to be the main
driver for glyphosate consumption in the next 5 years.
Thanks to rapid expansion of GM crops, South America has become the largest driver for glyphosate
consumption in the world, surpassing North America in 2007. However, as a mature market now, this
region has little growth potential in the future, with its large coverage of GM crops and no-till farming.
In Europe and North America, glyphosate market has been also growing fast with CAGR of about xxxx
and xxxx respectively in 2004 ~ 2008. As to Europe, major contributors to glyphosate consumption
growth include bio-fuel development and agriculture recovery in some countries, such as Russia. As to
North America, the expansion of GM crops and evolution of glyphosate-resistant weeds are the main
drivers to glyphosate consumption growth in 2004~2008.
Capturing only 4.15% or so world glyphosate consumption, Africa is a small market for glyphosate.
Limited by the undeveloped economy, glyphosate consumption will grow slowly in the region in the next
5 years.
Character of CCM' Report:
The aim of this report is to provide powerful assistance to the strategy group and the management
team in making correct decision as how to penetrate the ever-increasing China market and how to
catch the maximum commercial opportunities. The report is formulated independently by CCM’s
professional market researchers, based on the first-hand and primary data which are analyzed by
scientific methodology, confirmed with both manufacturers/end users/traders and legal authorities, and
presented in a logic way.

8. II Global supply & demand of glyphosate
II-1 Supply situation
- Glyphosate technical
The glyphosate industry is undergoing changes in structure and operation in a way and at a
speed that has not been witnessed previously. The drivers for such change have arisen from
two main common themes namely regionalisation and brisk demand.
Over XX glyphosate technical producers are distributed in China, with only X X outside China.

II-2.2 Distribution
……
CCM International divides the investigation area in this report into North America, South
America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Africa to research on the distribution of glyphosate. As there
is no glyphosate consumed in Antarctica, Antarctica is not considered here.
The most important glyphosate consumers are North America and South America, with the two
totally consuming XXX tonnes glyphosate, accounting for XXX of world’s total in 2008.

III-4.1.2 Glyphosate consumption
Glyphosate use in the United States is increasing rapidly with the introduction of
glyphosate-resistant (Roundup-Ready) crops and the development of glyphosate-resistant
weeds. The glyphosate consumption in USA is rising stably year on year, and the CAGR
reached XXX from 2004~2008. And the growth rate still maintained at XXX in 2008, which
indicated a flourishing glyphosate demand.

VII Conclusion and Recommendation
China will keep the position as key glyphosate technical supplier
China has taken up xx% of glyphosate technical market share in the world, with current
capacity of over xxt/a. It is unlikely for overseas producers to newly engage in glyphosate
technical production or expand capacity. China will keep the position as key glyphosate
technical supplier in the world.
