2. Gaming on Facebook
is a big thing.
Facebook’s advertising page implies that
the site has over 800 million users.
According to AppData the top game
company on Facebook has over 200
million average monthly users.
At least a quarter of all Facebook users
play these social games.
4. Zynga is currently the largest
social gaming company.
Zynga produces many popular titles such
as FarmVille, Mafia Wars, or Zynga Poker.
In their statement to the US SEC, Zynga
reported a revenue of $828.9 million in the
first nine months of 2011.
The games that make them so much
money are free to play.
5. The shocking truth:
According to an article run on
Forbes.com, Zynga relies on about
680,000 users out of its 220,000,000
average monthly users (about 0.3%) to
provide over 70% of its income.
Each of these players contributes about
$1100 per year by way of purchasing
digital items in Zynga’s games.
7. Removing pesky
posts from your
stream:
1) Mouse over the post.
2) Left-click the arrow tab in
the upper right corner.
3) Choose “Hide all by
[game]”
4) OR if the problem is a
particular friend, you can
choose “Unsubscribe from
game stories by [friend]”
8. Now you can enjoy updates
without game spam!
Remember that people are having fun, so
don’t harsh their mellow by complaining
to them about game posts.
Facebook games are generally free
unless you just have to have those
premium items.
These games provide excellent startup
opportunities for new tech companies.
9. Now you can do
it right!
That’s all you get from me folks.
10. I wanted to end this whole thing with a clip from the Daily Show
about the dangers of letting your kids play these free games. I
couldn’t get the player to embed, so here’s the link:

Sure, it’s not a Facebook game, but I think the message still works.
