2. When?
• At the end of the Tribulation, after the AntiChrist has been revealed, at the last Trumpet.
3. Paul
• 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 Now concerning the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together
to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken
in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word,
or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the
day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in
any way. For that day will not come, unless the
rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is
revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and
exalts himself against every so-called god or object of
worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God,
proclaiming himself to be God.
4. Paul
• 1 Corinthians 15:50-52 I tell you this,
brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the
kingdom of God, nor does the perishable
inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a
mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall
all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling
of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the
trumpet will sound, and the dead will be
raised imperishable, and we shall be
changed.
5. Paul
• 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself
will descend from heaven with a cry of
command, with the voice of an archangel, and
with the sound of the trumpet of God. And
the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who
are alive, who are left, will be caught up
together with them in the clouds to meet the
Lord in the air, and so we will always be with
the Lord. Therefore encourage one another
with these words.
6. The Coming of the Son of Man in Mark
• Mark 13:24-27 “But in those days, after that
tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the
moon will not give its light, and the stars will
be falling from heaven, and the powers in the
heavens will be shaken. And then they will
see the Son of Man coming in clouds with
great power and glory. And then he will send
out the angels and gather his elect from the
four winds, from the ends of the earth to the
ends of heaven.
7. The Coming of the Son of Man in Luke
• Luke 24:29-31 “Immediately after the tribulation
of those days the sun will be darkened, and the
moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall
from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will
be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign
of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the
earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of
Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power
and great glory. And he will send out his angels
with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his
elect from the four winds, from one end of
heaven to the other.
8. Daniel
• Daniel 12:1-2 “At that time shall arise Michael,
the great prince who has charge of your people.
And there shall be a time of trouble, such as
never has been since there was a nation till that
time. But at that time your people shall be
delivered, everyone whose name shall be found
written in the book. And many of those who
sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some
to everlasting life, and some to shame and
everlasting contempt.
9. The Feast of Trumpets
• Jesus said in Matthew 24:36 “But of that day or hour no one
knows”
• The Torah calls the Feast of Trumpets, Yom Teruah, or ”the
day of awakening blast”.
• The Feast of Trumpets was known as “the hidden day”: in
part because its commencement was uniquely dependent on
the first sighting of the New Moon, as well as the secondary
issue of notifying everyone that the feast had begun in time,
the Feast of Trumpets became the only two-day holiday
practiced in Israel.
10. Origin of the Feast of Trumpets:
Israel at Mount Sinai
•
Exodus 19:9-25 And the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am coming to you in a thick cloud, that the
people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” When Moses told the
words of the people to the Lord, the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them
today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments and be ready for the third day. For on the
third day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people. And you shall set
limits for the people all around, saying, ‘Take care not to go up into the mountain or touch the edge
of it. Whoever touches the mountain shall be put to death. No hand shall touch him, but he shall be
stoned or shot; whether beast or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds a long blast,
they shall come up to the mountain.” So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and
consecrated the people; and they washed their garments. And he said to the people, “Be ready for
the third day; do not go near a woman.” On the morning of the third day there were thunders and
lightnings and a thick cloud on the mountain and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people
in the camp trembled. Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they
took their stand at the foot of the mountain. Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the
Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole
mountain trembled greatly. And as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses
spoke, and God answered him in thunder. The Lord came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the
mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
11. The Feast of Trumpets
• Leviticus 23:23-25 And the Lord spoke to Moses,
saying, “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, In the
seventh month, on the first day of the month, you
shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial
proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy
convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, and
you shall present a food offering to the Lord.”
• Number 29:1 “On the first day of the seventh month
you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do
any ordinary work. It is a day for you to blow the
trumpets,
12. Isaiah
• Isaiah 26:19-21 & 27:1 Your dead shall live; their bodies
shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for
joy! For your dew is a dew of light, and the earth will give
birth to the dead. Come, my people, enter your chambers,
and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little
while until the fury has passed by. For behold, the Lord is
coming out from his place to punish the inhabitants of the
earth for their iniquity, and the earth will disclose the blood
shed on it, and will no more cover its slain. In that day the
Lord with his hard and great and strong sword will punish
Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan the twisting
serpent, and he will slay the dragon that is in the sea.
13. Coming to Egypt
• Isaiah 19:1 An oracle concerning Egypt.
Behold, the Lord is riding on a swift cloud and
comes to Egypt; and the idols of Egypt will
tremble at his presence, and the heart of the
Egyptians will melt within them.
14. Ezekiel
•
Ezekiel 37:1-14 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord
and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. And he led me around among
them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very
dry. And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you
know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the
word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you,
and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and
cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the
Lord.” So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a
rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and behold, there were
sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no
breath in them. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the
breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain,
that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and
they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. Then he said to me, “Son of man,
these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our
hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God:
Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you
into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise
you from your graves, O my people. And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I
will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do
it, declares the Lord.
15. Hosea
• Hosea 6:2 After two days he will revive us; on
the third day he will raise us up, that we may
live before him.
16. The Harvest in Matthew
• Matthew 13:38-43 The field is the world, and the good
seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the
sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sowed them
is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the
reapers are angels. Just as the weeds are gathered and
burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. The
Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather
out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all lawbreakers, and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that
place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the
kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.
17. Watch Yourselves
• Luke 21:34-36 34 “But watch yourselves lest
your hearts be weighed down with dissipation
and drunkenness and cares of this life, and
that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.
For it will come upon all who dwell on the face
of the whole earth. But stay awake at all
times, praying that you may have strength to
escape all these things that are going to take
place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
18. John
• John 25:25-29 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour
is coming, and is now here, when the dead will
hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who
hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself,
so he has granted the Son also to have life in
himself. And he has given him authority to
execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.
Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming
when all who are in the tombs will hear his
voice and come out, those who have done good
to the resurrection of life, and those who have
done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
19. John
• John 6:39-40 And this is the will of him who
sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that
he has given me, but raise it up on the last
day. For this is the will of my Father, that
everyone who looks on the Son and believes
in him should have eternal life, and I will raise
him up on the last day.”
20. John
• John 11:23-26 & 43-44 Jesus said to her, “Your brother
will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will
rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus
said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he
live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall
never die. Do you believe this?”
• …When he had said these things, he cried out with a
loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had
died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen
strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to
them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
21. John
• John 14:2-3 In my Father's house are many
rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you
that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go
and prepare a place for you, I will come again
and will take you to myself, that where I am
you may be also.
22. Revelation
• Revelation 1:7 Behold, he is coming with the
clouds, and every eye will see him, even those
who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will
wail on account of him.
• Revelation 11:15 Then the seventh angel blew
his trumpet, and there were loud voices in
heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has
become the kingdom of our Lord and of his
Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”
23. The Harvest of the Earth
• Revelation 14:14-20 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and seated
on the cloud one like a son of man, with a golden crown on his head, and
a sharp sickle in his hand. And another angel came out of the temple,
calling with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, “Put in your sickle,
and reap, for the hour to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is
fully ripe.” So he who sat on the cloud swung his sickle across the earth,
and the earth was reaped. Then another angel came out of the temple in
heaven, and he too had a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from
the altar, the angel who has authority over the fire, and he called with a
loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, “Put in your sickle and
gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, for its grapes are ripe.” So
the angel swung his sickle across the earth and gathered the grape
harvest of the earth and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of
God. And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed
from the winepress, as high as a horse's bridle, for 1,600 stadia.
24. 1,000 year Reign of Jesus-Christ
• Revelation 20:4-6 Then I saw thrones, and seated on them
were those to whom the authority to judge was committed.
Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for
the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those
who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not
received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They
came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand
years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed
and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection!
Over such the second death has no power, but they will be
priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him
for a thousand years.
