Research several dating review
site to see how the problems of
information overload was
handle.

Main content was always
placed in the center of the
page.

The most important links were
placed on the left hand side so
it is seen first.

Ad were usual placed on the
right hand side

All the sites were protected
and branded as legal
businesses.

Main navigation was placed at
top along with the headlines

     headlines
•The idea was to write
out the headlines and
reorganized them into
something that makes
sense.

•Thinking of the users
move who link to link.

•The users who want to
find what they are
looking for right away.

reorganized the page in
a way that made sense.

•The first reorganized
the links putting them
into themes.

•Started with five
different themes.

•The themes would
become a search
engine for the users
looking for a dating site
that best suited their
needs.

•I started redesign of the
front page.

•The layout needed to
make sense in order to be
easy to read by the user.

      I moved the dating

      links to the right side.

      The extras were

      placed on the left
      side.

      The service statement

      center of the page.

      The heading was

      enlarged and center
      with a image.
Redesign
      Process
   The color scheme
I came up with the idea
to create a brand for
this site.
The theme would be a
coffee shop.
Coffee shops are
sometimes used for first
dates or just meeting
someone.
The colors would be a
chocolate brown, a
updated pink, and blue.
Give the users a feeling
of food and coffee like
being at a coffee shop
The first
     redesign
This is what I came up
with as the first
redesign of the project.

The background was
the chocolate brown.

The pink used in the
content area and
heading.

The two coffee cups at
the top reflected love
with the hearts.
The Users
reactions to the
   redesign

The overall look is better.

The brown is nice.

Noticed the links first.

Liked the new name.

Likes the center graphics.

Likes fonts


               Negative
The link colors may be too light.

The brown too dark , looks a little
uncomfortable.

Push the coffee theme further.

Background link unsure what that is.

Image is a little washed out.

Too web looking

I moved over the dating links
to the left side.

The extras went to the right.

The content and links placed
on a white background with a
border around them.

Widen the page to give it
larger feel.

Made a brown stripe along
bottom and top of page.

I took out the ad completely,
not needed.

A dark pink stripe along
bottom and top.
This is the final
  outcome of the
      design

pushed further.

only at the top and
bottom.

•The images were
placed on a coffee ring
background.

PDA design should be
150px x 150px.

Little or no images

PDA forms are now not
much different from
Web designs.

Knows someone who did and never found someone, so he stop looking online. A big apple product user. Uses apple home page. Uses the internet for shipping places like overstock.com and writing & reading grants for different art galleries from across the US. Likes web sites that provide a safe well design area. Knows where to go without having to think about it to much.

Has used Yahoo.com online dating be 2000. Does not use online dating any longer. Uses both Firefox and Safire for internet. Uses Google search mostly. Raised in a mid-west state moved to Florida for school. Goes more with friends then dates. Mild Conservative.
  • 8. Scotty Description Age: 36 Homosexual Male Earning a degree in Web design Went to clubs and bars to met people. Never used internet dating services. He is from the northern eastern part of US. Uses Face book and MySpace to keep up with family and friends. The Weather Channel web page is one of his favorite to use. When first entering onto a page looks for the navigation system. User Firefox and Explorer for internet connections. Google is his main search engine. Has Liberal point of view.

Elements of User Experience oThe Visual Design- is weak there is no place for the eye to focus on. oInterface Design-the links either do not work or take the user to a untrustworthily place. oInteraction Design-has no true define to it. The users are unsure where they are going. No site map. oFunctional Specifications-the site contents no information on how to best use this site. oUser Needs- creates uncomfortable feelings and rarely does the user feel they find what they are looking for. oSite Objectives-no design brand. There are two business statements.

  • 14. Research for Redesign Research several dating review site to see how the problems of information overload was handle. Main content was always placed in the center of the page. The most important links were placed on the left hand side so it is seen first. Ad were usual placed on the right hand side All the sites were protected and branded as legal businesses. Main navigation was placed at top along with the headlines
  • 15. The original headlines •The idea was to write out the headlines and reorganized them into something that makes sense. •Thinking of the users move who link to link. •The users who want to find what they are looking for right away. Redesign Process
  • 16. •The process was to reorganized the page in a way that made sense. •The first reorganized the links putting them into themes. •Started with five different themes. •The themes would become a search engine for the users looking for a dating site that best suited their needs. The redesign process
  • 17. The Redesign Process •I started redesign of the front page. •The layout needed to make sense in order to be easy to read by the user. I moved the dating 1. links to the right side. The extras were 2. placed on the left side. The service statement 3. of the site was in the center of the page. The heading was 4. enlarged and center with a image.
  • 18. Redesign Process The color scheme I came up with the idea to create a brand for this site. The theme would be a coffee shop. Coffee shops are sometimes used for first dates or just meeting someone. The colors would be a chocolate brown, a updated pink, and blue. Give the users a feeling of food and coffee like being at a coffee shop
  • 19. The first redesign This is what I came up with as the first redesign of the project. The background was the chocolate brown. The pink used in the content area and heading. The two coffee cups at the top reflected love with the hearts.
  • 20. The Users reactions to the redesign Positive The overall look is better. The brown is nice. Noticed the links first. Liked the new name. Likes the center graphics. Likes fonts Negative The link colors may be too light. The brown too dark , looks a little uncomfortable. Push the coffee theme further. Background link unsure what that is. Image is a little washed out. Too web looking Needs to be softer
  • 21. Positive •Loved the simplicity of the design. •The background is better and softer. •Feels more professional. •Elegance about it. Negative •Liked image in Image 1 better. •Not enough contrast. •The pink in the three Redesign Image 2 column unsure about. •Too girly
  • 22. The second redesign After the comments made by the users. I moved over the dating links to the left side. The extras went to the right. The content and links placed on a white background with a border around them. Widen the page to give it larger feel. Made a brown stripe along bottom and top of page. I took out the ad completely, not needed. A dark pink stripe along bottom and top.
  • 23. This is the final outcome of the design •The coffee theme was pushed further. •The brown was used only at the top and bottom. •The images were placed on a coffee ring background. The final design page
  • 24. PDA Design PDA design should be 150px x 150px. Little or no images PDA forms are now not much different from Web designs.
