Real Time Ship Tracking system using AIS data - GeoShipTracker C.J.Gunasekara RusiruBoteju Internship Project University of Colombo
Previous work Real time plotting of tracked target data is currently undergoing.
Work to be done by myself All data about individual vessels should be accessible by a single mouse click and presented in a simple way. Ships broadcast their identity, position, course, speed and destination so that ground surveillance can take monitor their of their movements software running on the PC, should be able to see a radar-like real-time map of all the large ships manoeuvring in Sri Lankan waters together with information about their destination, estimated time of arrival and even the dimensions of each vessel.
Database
Further Objectives The GeoShipTracker should allow the user to study AIS traffic patterns. The vessel positions are shown with different symbols depending on their type, course and speed. It is also should be able to filter vessels by different selection criteria. Vessel positions are mapped against low detail coastal maps, but, as the user zooms in to take a closer look additional details at the port should be displayed.
Time Line This all are easier said than done
Thank you!
