Undergraduate Internship
DICK'S Sporting Goods - Pittsburgh, PA
Our 12-week summer internship program is offered to students between their junior and senior years and is located at our Store Support Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

At DICK’S Sporting Goods, interns have the opportunity to work with and learn from the leaders of a
Fortune 500 company recognized by Fortune Magazine as “Retail’s Rising Star”. DSG is a company
committed to building ethical, professional and collaborative relationships with customers, associates and vendor partners.

3. During the 12-week summer experience, interns will take on meaningful work assignments and make
tangible contributions to the organization’s success. Interns are assigned to one position within Merchandising – primarily Buying or Merchandise Analysis. Within those functions, interns are placed in
a specific department. Past interns have worked in areas including Nike Apparel, Golf, Footwear,
Outdoor Lifestyle, NCAA Licensing and more! The program also offers the potential to work in other
categories, such as Finance, IT, eCommerce and Supply Chain. This structured and well-organized
program provides on-the-job training, classroom instruction, cross-functional departmental exposure
and an end-of-program project presentation.

Interns also participate in professional development workshops designed to increase their knowledge
of the company and the retail industry, as well as develop their business acumen and office professionalism. Extensive exposure to senior leadership and attending a private lunch with our Chief Executive Officer are just a few of the vast networking opportunities interns gain throughout the summer. Additionally, DSG provides interns many chances to interact, “live the brand” and experience
some summer fun outside the office through sporting events, social activities and networking nights.
Fully furnished summer housing is provided for interns who reside outside of the Metro Pittsburgh
area.

Areas of Placement:
Buying : Each intern will be placed with a Buyer in a particular category of the business (ex. Golf,
Camping, etc.) to carry out the basic responsibilities of an introductory buying role. During this
time, he/she will communicate with vendors, determine products to carry in store, analyze the space
and flow of those products, as well as work with cross-functional teams (ex. Advertising, Space
Planning, Pricing, etc.) to execute the sale of those goods.
Allocations & Replenishment: Spending the summer with a Merchandise Analyst educates interns on
the shipment and flow of goods in and out of DICK’S Sporting Goods stores. During this time, interns will gain hands-on experience in the analytical systems that keep our stores in stock on a daily
basis.
Additional positions: Many other areas of the company support and interact with merchandising.
These departments may be available for placement based on business need (Finance, IT, eCommerce, Supply Chain, etc.).
