- Read this instead: Some things need to be kept, saved, signed, on official letterhead, such as an official state or agency announcement, an application form etc. Some things you want to “leave-behind” – such as marketing material – and is information that stays on the user’s computer even after they have left your web site.
- Because 90% of users have at least Acrobat Reader, don’t have to worry if they can open or see it correctly. Example is a ppoint cpaa had done a brown bag presentation on sustainability, got requests to make it available, put the ppoint on their web site, some people could not open it – did not have ppoint at all or only had an older version of ppoint. They “saved as” to a pdf file, now everyone can open it.
- So when you convert a file into pdf to place on your web site, remember to… -- commonly overlooked.
- WHEN NOT TO
- Watch for training on Web Tools and on working with pdf files
- All of these are considerations – there are times when you should keep a file as a pdf – just keep these things in mind.
- Think of the end user when you are making a pdf file and determine how it should be saved.
