The letter requests that Governor Abercrombie impose a moratorium on new development projects in Kakaako approved by the Hawaii Community Development Authority until infrastructure needs such as sewers, water, roads, parks and schools are adequately addressed. It notes that current rapid development is undermining existing plans and exceeding infrastructure capacity, threatening community health and quality of life. The letter is signed by representatives of numerous community groups who are concerned about the impacts of uncontrolled development in Kakaako.
